Lynda Carter
Carter was born in Phoenix as the daughter of Juanita (nee Cordova), and Colby Carter. Her mother is from Mexico is Mexican, Spanish and French. One brother, Vincent and a sister, Pamela, are her siblings. Carter aged five made her television debut on Lew King's Talent Show. Carter was part of a group called Just Us during high school. The group played marimba, conga drums an acoustic guitar and stand-up basses. One member of the group also played guitar. Lynda started singing in a pizza shop at the age of 15. She joined her cousins, The Relatives, when she was 16. The actor Gary Burghoff was the drummer for the group. The band first began at the Sahara Hotel in Las Vegas. Carter had to enter the kitchen due to being older than 21. After being called "Most Talented", Carter decided to leave school to pursue a career as a musician. Carter auditioned for The Garfin Gathering in 1970. She went on the road together with Howard (Speedy), Garfin. Their first performance took place in the Holiday Inn Chinatown in San Francisco in 1970, which was so new it did not have a sidewalk entry. The hotel staff and hotel guests were parked in the garage underground, which meant that they were performing for them. The Garfin Gathering performed shows throughout the Nevada "Silver Circuit" and also in many casinos in Nevada. Carter had to quit the Garfin Gathering to pursue acting in 1972. She then was able to return to Arizona.
