She is known best as Kate Capshaw, an American actress who has since retired. She is most famous for her role as Willie Scott, an American nightclub performer and singer in Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom (1984), which was directed by her eventual husband Steven Spielberg. The film features her in Dreamscape (1984), Power (86), SpaceCamp (1986) as well as Black Rain(89), Love Affair, Love Affair (1994), Just Cause (1895) and The Love Letter (1999) She has continued to become a household name. Capshaw is a portrait artist who has been displayed at the Smithsonian National Portrait Gallery Capshaw was born Kathleen Sue Nail in Fort Worth Texas. She is the daughter of Beverley Sue Simon (nee Simon), a beautician and travel agent along with Edwin Leon Nail, an employee of the airline. Capshaw was five years old when she moved to St. Louis, Missouri. She graduated from Hazelwood Senior High School. Capshaw received a degree in education at the University of Missouri, where she was a part of Alpha Delta Pi. She taught special education at Southern Boone High School in Ashland, Missouri, and Rock Bridge High School in Columbia, Missouri.
