Salma Hayek
Salma Hayek is a Mexican-American actress born to Syrian-Lebanese parents. Her family was a wealthy Roman Catholic family from Mexico. She was inspired as a young girl to act by the film "Willy Woonka and The Chocolate Factory'. The actress was ready to go into the realm of film following her time at Mexico City's 'Universidad Iberoamericana.' Her first assignment as an actor was the Mexican telenovela 'Teresa.' In Hollywood she got the part of Antonio Banderas's co-star on 'Desperado. There were other roles to follow, like "Fools Rush in" and Wild Wild West.' She was the character 'Desperado' the character from Once Upon a Time in Mexico was reprised. Her next step was to establish the production company 'Ventanarosa'. Her first film was the Mexican "El Coronel No Teiene Quien Le Escriba. The film was Mexico's official entry for the Oscars for Best Foreign Film. Her producer's role in "Ugly Betty" was another accomplishment. The show was awarded Outstanding Guest Actress (Comedy Series) at the 59th Primetime Emmy Awards. The endorsements she has received include Revlon and Avon along with Nuance's line of hair, skin, and cosmetic products named Nuance. She is a supporter of the campaign to fund vaccines against maternal and neonatal tetanus.
