Lucy Liu (born Lucy Liu) is an American actor, voice actress as well as a director producer and singer. An attractive, clever and talented actor, she's an example to Asian actors who want to make it big in Hollywood. She gained fame after several popular role in series. The most notable was The Ally McBeal series, where she portrayed Ling Woo the villainous character. In the wake of her popularity, she was offered important roles on the shows Shanghai Noon (1998) and Charlie's Angels (2000). She then delivered a superlative performance as Japanese crime lord O-Ren In the Quentin Tarantino film Kill Bill Volume 1. While she was in the film she was a leading lady in flops that were box-office hits like Rise: Blood Hunter were equally prominent. In the following years, she started to voice prominent characters from animated films such as Kung Fu Panda and Tinker Bell. Mia Mason's part on Cashmere Mafia, a small screen movie, did not yield results. Southland's critically acclaimed police series, Southland and a recurring role helped Liu re-establish as an established actor. Liu takes great care when choosing her roles so that she is not cast in a very competition-driven industry. Although she's embraced the roots of her family, she hasn't let it hinder her creativity.
