Sheryl Underwood was born in Arkansas and grew up in the state. She was a television host for the daytime talkshow The Talk. Born in Arkansas she was raised at Little Rock and Atwater. Sheryl was raised in a difficult family. Sheryl spent the majority of her youth taking care of her sister Frankie and her polio-infected sister. When she was a child, she had difficulties with her mother. Sheryl claims that in an incident, she was stabbed by her father due to him being too close with her. When she graduated from college Sheryl joined the military. However her interest lay in comedy. She was selected as the first female winner in the Miller Lite Comedy Search, held in 1989. In 1992, she began her TV debut with regular appearances on the HBO show Def Comedy Jam. She also appeared in 2000 as host of the T.V. program Oh Drama! Presently, she is a guest host on the talk talk show from 2011. In addition, she has a fictional role in popular shows such as Bulworth and Nikki as well as Beauty Shop.
